Life Under Occupation – with Jamila Ghaddar
Jamilé Ghaddar is a Canadian of Lebanese descent and currently one of the Campus Coordinators for Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights National. She was a founding member of McMaster Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights and DEFEND GAZA!. She is a recent graduate of the Anthropology and Linguistics program at McMaster University, and has worked within the immigration settlement sector as a youth coordinator and settlement worker. She will be joining the Masters of
Information Studies program at the University of Toronto in September 2009. In her presentation, Ms. Ghaddar will focus on Canadian policy on Palestine, particularly as revealed in Operation Cast Iron and the ongoing aggression against Gaza, Palestine. In turn, she will explore the links between indigenous rights in Canada and historic Palestine, drawing on her experiences at the Six Nations reclamation effort at the Douglas Creek Estate.
Radical Disability Politics - By Damn 2025
DAMN 2025 is a cross disability organization in Toronto we are fighting for radical access for everyone and social and economic justice.
This workshop will introduce people to radical disability politics, and will discuss how disability is used in our society to maintain and perpetuate oppression as well as intersectionality. We will also discuss how to work towards making organizing work inclusive and accessible.
Kids Workshop: with Eva Kay. Eva Kay is 13. For the workshop, Eva will discuss media awareness. She will start with a short introduction followed by several media oriented activities (for example passive viewer vs active viewer opinions on an advertisement of the participants choice.) Eva will be assisted by her sister Bronwyn Kay, 10. Bronwyn will also have her zine Kitty Corner available for sale at the book fair.
Industrial Workers of the World: The Toronto branch of the IWW, a radical and democratic union that aims to win “freedom from wage slavery” for all will be discussing the basics of direct action organizing in the workplace. Learn how to put the scare to your boss (and the union bureaucrats)!

Wayne Price on the Economic Crisis: Long time anarchist and author, Wayne will be discussing the roots of the economic crisis and anarchist responses to it. Wayne’s most recent book is The Abolition of the State: Anarchist and Marxist Perspectives.
Environmental Justice with Greg Macdougall
What is environmental justice? We will look at a definition(s), history and examples, with a view to understanding how to support such work. Specifically we also look at ‘climate justice’ and what a just and required response consists of. Plus, some discussion on creating a new ‘green’ economy. www.EquitableEducation.ca
Mental Health with Tobie Marven
This workshop is part of a process of completing a zine on Ms. Marven’s journey towards getting well in this sick society. As an anarcha-feminist, she will be looking at the effect of mental health in both this sexist capitalist society and the work place specifically. She will be touching on Marxist and feminist theory’s of psychiatry and using her own experience as a case study.
